Language Awareness and English Spelling Difficulties of Saudi EFL Students

Spelling errors constitute the biggest challenge for Arab students during process of their acquisition four English language skills, especially learning writing skill. The aim study was to assess awareness and spelling difficulties faced by Saudi EFL students. Major emphasis given mistakes commonly committed learners. It also aimed explore opinions on as a foreign language, establishing different causes errors, assessing interference that exists between Arabic used quantitative research approach based descriptive design. An online questionnaire collect data from sample 150 male female university who were in first year program at King Saud University. revealed variety factors contribute students’ mistakes, cutting across educational system curriculum, attitudes, English-Arabic linguistic interference. participants imparted observations experiences, responses assisted researcher categorizing discovering reasons solutions errors. This helped great deal plausible suggesting successful corrective strategies. outcomes this are supposed aid policymakers taking required steps improve experiences learners help teachers empower earners avoiding common spelling. advocates change way is taught schools, emphasizing importance basis fluency. proposes few pedagogical strategies rectification
